My name is Cathy Thompson with Refined Expeditions. I was inspired years ago by my sister’s travel adventures around the world to start travelling myself. After meticulously researching and planning my own travel I realized I was very good at this and began my own travel company.
My clients are provided one-on-one personalized service because I understand the importance of building that unique relationship and really listening to the details of your tastes and interests to give you the most substantive and enriching experience.
Research and planning are the basis of an incredible and successful travel experience. What sets me apart from other travel advisors is my expertise in creating custom itineraries by searching extensively to find the most efficient route, must-see highlights and hidden gems, finding locally based informative and experienced guides, finding opportunities to experience museums without the crowds to after-hours visits of famous landmarks (privately arranged with luxury bookings) and authentic adventures—all to provide the most innovative travel experience possible.
With established connections to preferred travel suppliers, hotels, and cruise lines, I am confident in my ability to fashion the perfect itinerary for you. While I am versatile in planning various types of travel, my specialization lies in South Africa Safari Tours, Cape Town, Stellenbosch winery tours, Machu Picchu and Lima, Portugal, and meticulously crafted multi-destination itineraries.

We start with just a simple chat on the phone or Zoom to see if we’re the right fit. We'll talk about what you're looking for in your trip and I'll explain more about me and how I can help. From there, we can decide which direction to go.
2. Design and Collaborate
We’ll pool our resources, reach out to our contacts and tap into our own knowledge and experience. Once you’ve seen the options we’ve provided, we’ll work together to create the perfect trip for you.
3. Personalized Itinerary
I present your final itinerary with tickets and reservations in one place. You will have access to everything using a personalized mobile app so you have all the details at your fingertips while you travel.
4. Enjoy Your Trip
You’re off to have the time of your life, with the peace of mind knowing that we’re here if you need us. Enjoy yourself…and send us some pictures from the road!
